Can I use it inside?

Yes, it is designed to be used inside as a table top grill.

Does it mark the table?

No, there is very little heat underneath the grills, but if you wish you can rest it on placemats.

Does it smoke?

With cheese melting and pizza making, there is no smoke. However some foods on the grill top such as bacon and oily sausages can be smoky. Continental sausages such as vorst, alpine sticks, and Italian and German sausages are fine.

Can I use any cheese other than Raclette?

Raclette is designed to melt without separating out and has a lovely rich aroma and taste. Cheeses such as mild, edam and gruyere can be substituted. Harder cheeses such as tasty and cheddar are not so good.

Where can I find a local supplier of Raclette cheese?

There is a link under the “About Us” drop down on the homepage called “Raclette Cheese” and we are building a database of suppliers from around New Zealand. If you find a supplier not on the list, click here to contact us so we can add them.

What food can I grill on top?

Kebabs, vegetables, seafood, chicken, Continental style sausages, eggs, crepes and pancakes, pikelets. Actually you can do just about anything, just experiment and see. We would love to hear what you do click here to contact us.

Can I use it outside?

It can be used safely outside as long as it doesn’t get wet. In fact it is great for brunches, pizza parties and summer evening dinners outside on the deck.

Is it hard to clean?

No. Swissconnection grills have a non-stick coating on all cooking surfaces and are very easy to clean after use. Caution however, do not immerse the grill in water when cleaning, just remove the grill plate for cleaning.

How long do mini pizzas take?

After the grill heats up (about 10 minutes) pizzas take about 5 minutes each. Just lift the edge of the pizza to check the underside is nice and brown.

How long does Raclette cheese take to melt?

After the grill heats up (about 10 minutes) the cheese takes about 2-3 minutes to melt.
